Locals call it “la isla bonita’, the beautiful isle. Palma is loved by nature lovers and hikers for its unique vegetation and mountains rising 2,500m above the sea. The island’s capital, also called Palma, was formerly very industrial and goes back over two centuries. Centrepiece of the old town and its art nouveau buildings is the sandstone La Seu Cathedral. Tip: go in search of the volcanic origins of the island and climb the San Antonio or Teneguía volcanoes.
